Hip Hop and Comics Interview + we're going to Fan Expo Canada
Mike is doing 25 more head sketches for this Kickstarter! We have created a new "Sketch Works" tier so you can upgrade your pledge if you missed out on this original art the first time! But don't wait too long as we expect these to go as quickly as they did the first time around!
While we aren’t taking requests for the sketches, I think Mike needs to try drawing something other than Wolverine and Galactus. Comment below what he should draw and maybe he’ll take your suggestion.
Hip Hop + Comics
Zach Norris talked to Mike about his comics career, his art style and artistic influences, and how Hip Hop shapes his art and storytelling. It’s a BIG interview with a ton of insight into Mike’s creative life and his love for comics and rap.
Out and Aboot
We’ll be at Fan Expo Canada this week so come by get some signatures, comics, prints and stickers. Mike will be doing a SKETCH DUEL against SIMONE DI MEO on Friday at 5pm, so be sure to see Mike try to talk while trying to draw. We also plan on attending Comic Xplosion on Saturday at 7:30 PM at The Rec Room. Artists have an hour to paint a large canvas and fans have the ability to bid on the final piece. This is what Mike did last year.

I love Mike’s hip hop + comics art, so maybe do something with a Marvel or 90’s video game character + a 90’s hip hop group or artist. You’ve already referenced Tribe and PAC and others, so maybe if you want to change things up, do like GangStarr/Busta/Black Star/OutKast/Smif-n-Wesson/Camp Lo/Souls of Mischief/Pharcyde etc etc. Royalty, Elevators/2Dope boyz, 93’ til infinity, respiration/thieves in the night swirling around in my head right now
Mike you should do Mugen and Jin from Samurai Champloo! They would look dope in your style!
